Michael Pena (The Vatican Tapes) is set to star in Sony’s ‘The Bringing’ from director Jeremy Lovering. The most recent script was penned by Kevin Kolsch and Denis Widmyer.

The film is set in the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, the very same hotel that inspired last season’s ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’. The hotel has a dark and deadly past and once served as home to a serial killer. The Cecil Hotel also has had a long history of mysterious deaths, suicides, and disappearances. Pena will be playing the role of an investigator looking for answers after a mysterious death occurs on the hotel’s grounds, according to Bloody Disgusting.

It’s allegedly based on Elisa Lam, who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. That’s the place that killers like Richard Ramirez called home at one time or another, and where suicides have occurred. Footage of Lam’s bizarre, inexplicable behavior in an elevator before her death became a massive Internet sensation, and this has been turned into the story of the man investigating her death, and the nightmare he stumbles into.
