We have been following the development of the horror thriller ‘Rock Paper Dead’, from co-writers/producers Victor Miller (Friday the 13th) and Kerry Fleming (Something’s on the Roof), for quite some time now. Today, they went public with the news that Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’s Play) is set to direct. Special effects for the film will be handled by Emmy-nominated artist Vincent Guastini (Requiem for a Dream) who will also co-produce. Legendary composer Harry Manfredini will create the score.

‘Rock Paper Dead’ follows Peter Harris, aka “The Doll Maker”, who returns to his ancestral estate after his release from the state asylum for the criminally insane. After 20 years inside the institution he has been deemed as “cured”. When Peter steps inside the old house memories of his tortured childhood and past victims come flooding back. It isn’t until Ashley enters his life that Peter makes a decision, one that rekindles old desires that have always ended in murder.

Guastini, who trained under special effects makeup icon Dick Smith, will also create a line of merchandise for ‘Rock Paper Dead’ that includes serial killer dolls and masks based on the film. Each doll will represent one of “The Doll Maker’s” on screen victims.Merchandise will be available in stores around the time of the theatrical premiere of  ‘Rock Paper Dead’, next Halloween.

Expect a throwback type horror thriller. It’s like a modern day Psycho. The type of film reminiscent of Hitchcock or DePalma.” Fleming told me. “It will feature a strong story combined with amazing acting, legendary Director Tom Holland and a crew of genre veterans who believe in this project with all their hearts. Amy Williams did an amazing job of putting all the pieces in place so we can now move forward. It has all the elements to be a modern day classic that fans will talk about for years to come.”

Amy Williams will produce alongside Miller and Fleming. Josh Holland, Nicole Pierce and Stephanie Shamie will serve as executive producers.

Next week filming is set to begin and the cast announced. We will keep you posted.
