The series adaption of 1988’s iconic black-comedy Heathers has been greenlit by TV Land. The series will be an anthology series set in present day and far different from the film we remember.

The original stars included Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty, Lisanne Falk, Kim Walker and Pauline Fleming. There has been a bit of a revamp. According to THR, Heather McNamara (originally  Falk) is now an African American lesbian, Heather Duke ( originally Doherty) is a gay male, and Heather Chandler (originally Walker) “has a body like Martha Dumptruck.”

Sleeping With Other People’s Leslye Headland is in the directors chair. The revamped series is written by Jason Micallef. Garry Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg are serving as executive producers.
