Many genre series are coming to end. Series such as ‘Grimm’, ‘The Vampire Diaries’, and ‘Teen Wolf’ are all wrapping up their series after their current seasons. Hell, even ‘Supernatural‘ is already preparing fans for its end in the near future.

Now, WGN’s ‘Salem’ has announced it too will end after its current season. And that is a shame, it is a fantastic series. The season 3 finale will also serve at the show’s finale episode, Deadline reports. Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, the show’s creators, knew from the beginning that this is the way it would end. “We knew this would be the third and final exciting climax to Mary’s transformation saga.” The creators said in a joint statement.

Salem’ is a fantastic show that greatly contributed to our successful launch into original programming,” said Matt Cherniss, president and general manager, WGN America and Tribune Studios. “We thank Brannon, Adam, our talented cast, and our partners at Fox 21 for entrusting us with their unique and remarkable vision for the world of ‘Salem.’ We also thank the fans for their loyal support of the show.”

“We are grateful to WGN America and Fox 21 for being terrific partners and giving us free reign to create a satisfying conclusion–one we believe respects our love of storytelling and the show’s passionate fans,” Braga and Simon said. “It was a magical experience to create ‘Salem,’ and we want to thank every producer, writer, director, actor, and crew member for all they have done to help us bring the world of ‘Salem’ to life.”

Janet Montgomery, Shane West, Seth Gabel, Tamzin Merchant, Lucy Lawless, Ashley Madekwe, Elise Eberle, Iddo Goldberg, Joe Doyle and Oliver Bell co-star in this supernatural series that revolves around witches. Rocker Marilyn Mason has joined the cast season and plays the role of Thomas Dinley, Salem’s surgeon and barber.

Wednesday, December 14th, episode 3×06, ‘Wednesday’s Child’ will air. The episode is directed by Peter Weller (RoboCop). You can catch-up on previous seasons on Netflix.
