Production has already begun on AT&T Audience’s series adaption of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes. Mr. King dropped a few hints on Twitter about the 10-episode series. including that it is going to be “really good,” and that at some point in season one we will see him make a cameo.
King has made many cameos in films based on his works, including Pet Sematary, Sleepwalkers, Maximum Overdrive, The Shinning, Thinner, The Stand, and in Storm of the Century.
Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow), Harry Treadway (Penny Dreadful), Jharrel Jerome (Moonlight), Scott Lawrence (Avatar), Robert Stanton (Mercury Rising), Anne Cusack (Nightcrawler), Mary Louise-Parker (Weeds), Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Kelly Lynch (Rock the Kasbah), Justine Lupe (Harry’s Law), and Breeda Wool (XX) co-star.
King’s 2014 novel follows a twisted killer (Treadaway), who taunts a retired police officer (Gleeson) with a series of letters prompting the cop to make it his person mission to hunt the killer down before he strikes again.
Jack Bender (Lost, Child’s Play 3) is in the director’s chair for the series penned by David E. Kelley (The Crazy Ones). Sonar Entertainment will produce. Bender and Kelly will serve as executive producers along with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment.
While the exact premiere date has not yet been announced, we do know that it will be some time this Fall.
