Brilliant Writer-director-producer David Lynch who has delivered so many amazing films and series, such as Mulholland Drive, The Elephant Man, Eraserhead and more, has announced he will never make another film.
Lynch told the Sydney Morning Herald that Inland Empire (2006) was his final film and marks the end of his movie directing career. The Reason, he believes there is no longer a place for directors like him in the industry.

Things changed a lot,” Lynch stated. “So many films were not doing well at the box office even though they might have been great films and the things that were doing well at the box office weren’t the things that I would want to do.”

He was asked if he had made his last film, he paused and then said “Yes”.
Lynch’s retirement from the film industry comes just before the premiere of his Twin Peaks revival arriving later this month on May 21, 2017.
It is sad that such a talented filmmaker like Lynch feels like there is no longer room for him in the industry. Hopefully, he will change his mind one day.
