Even though Jurassic World 2 won’t be in theaters until next year, it has already claimed a spot as one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2018.
We have seen the first promotional image for the film and a behind the scenes image of a new dinosaur. Now, writer Colin Trevorrow has tweeted a new image that confirms Jeff Goldblum‘s return to the film, which we reported back in April.
Goldblum will reprising his role as know-it-all mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm whose specialty is in chaos theories. Goldblum starred in Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Production began on Jurassic World 2 in February in London at Pinewood Studios under the direction of J. A. Bayona.
While the exact plot is being kept quiet, we have heard that the film will involve Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) who has used the stole DNA from Jurassic World to create dinosaurs for a military company who plans to use them in battle.
Goldblum will join returning actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong, who co-starred with Goldblum in the original. “Rexy”, the T-Rex from Jurassic Park, will also be rejoining the cast. Toby Jones, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwell co-star.
J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) is in the director’s chair for the mainly practical effects film. Colin Trevorrow, who directed the previous film, wrote the script along with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall, Belén Atienza, and Pat Crowley will produce. Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow will executive produce. Produced by Amblin Entertainment, Jurassic World 2 will arrive in theaters nationwide on June 22, 2018.
