It is “better to reign in hell, than serve in heaven.”, a quote from one of the most epic poems in history. John Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’, first published in 1667, details the fall of man from a biblical point of view . The 17th century book, which includes over ten-thousand lines of verse, features incredible artwork by Gustave Doré. Now, ‘Paradise Lost’ is about to be brought to life. It is being adapted.

Variety is reporting that Dancing Ledge Productions along with Martin Freeman, star of Sherlock and The Hobbit, are currently adapting a series based on the poem. Freeman and Laurence Bowen, the CEO of Dancing Ledge are working with writers and networks in both the U.S. and the U.K. to bring the series to life.

Paradise Lost is like a biblical Game of Thrones transporting the reader into a internecine world of political intrigue and incredible violence. At stake? The future of mankind. There’s never been a better time for big, original, bold drama series and Martin and I both feel incredibly inspired by the material.” Bowen stated.

We will keep you posted as the series continues to progress.
