‘John Whick’ Director Signs On For The ‘Sandman Slim’ Adaption

It appears that John Wick director Chad Stahelski is gearing up to kick-off a new franchise. The stuntman turned filmmaker has signed on to direct the film adaption of the first book of best-selling author Richard Kadrey’s nine-book fantasy series Sandman Slim, Deadline reports. Studio 8 acquired the rights last year. “Sandman Slim” is a supernatural vigilante who escapes from Hell to seek revenge for the murder of his girlfriend and the magicians responsible for getting him sent “downtown”. Kerry Williamson (What Happened to Monday) will be editing the script originally penned by Kel Symons. Patrick Walmsley of LBI Entertainment along with Julie Yorn will produce with John Lester. Studio 8’s Chis Goldberg and Rishi Rajani will oversee the film. The nine books of the series have been labeled as one Barnes and Noble’s “Best Paranormal Fantasy Novels of the Last Decade.” The 10th book of the Sandman Slim series will be published later this year.

New Series And Film Adaption In The Works For Lars Kepler’s Serial Killer Novels

There are a new series and film, based on the Lars Kepler’s series of thriller novels, on its way from Anonymous Content, according to Deadline. Lars Kepler is the pseudonym for the married Swedish writing team of Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril. A film adaption of ‘The Sandman’ will kick off the franchise which Kepler and Niclas Salomonsson will executive produce. The television adaption of ‘The Hypnotist’ has a first look deal with Paramount Television. Kerry Kohansky-Roberts of Anonymous and Steve Golin will executive produce both the film and the series. ‘The Hypnotist’ is set in Tumba, Sweden, where a triple homicide catches the attention of Detective Inspector Joona Linna. The only witness, a boy who watched his family being butchered. It’s a miracle that the boy survived after receiving more than a hundred knife wounds. He remains in shock, but the detective is desperate for answers and turns to a hypnotist to unlock the boy’s memory of the

Universal To Adapt Riley Sager’s Novel ‘Final Girls’ For Feature Film

Universal Pictures has obtained the rights to Riley Sager’s novel ‘Final Girls’ that was published by Dutton this past July. Praised by Stephen King, the novel has been compared to a horror version of ‘Gone Girl’. Neil Gaiman’s Series ‘Good Omens’ Casts Michael Sheen And David Tennant In Lead Roles

The Amazon series adaption of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s apocalypse-comedy ‘Good Omens’ is moving along and has now revealed that the show’s lead roles have now been cast. Underworld/’Masters of Sex’ actor Michael Sheen is set to star as Aziraphale, and angel. Terry Pratchett, most recognized for his run as “the doctor” on ‘Doctor Who’, will play opposite Sheen as a demon named Crowley, Variety reports. In the novel, which was Gaiman’s first, the world is on the brink of the apocalypse. Aziraphale and Crowley are attempting to stop the “End Times” from happening as they search out the son of Satan. ‘Good Omens’ is set to premiere some time in 2018 and is co-produced by BBC Studios, Narrativia, and the Blank Corporation in association with Amazon Prime Video. ‘Sherlock’ Star Adapting ‘Paradise Lost’ For New Series

It is “better to reign in hell, than serve in heaven.”, a quote from one of the most epic poems in history. John Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’, first published in 1667, details the fall of man from a biblical point of view . The 17th century book, which includes over ten-thousand lines of verse, features incredible artwork by Gustave Doré. Now, ‘Paradise Lost’ is about to be brought to life. It is being adapted. AMC Adapting Joe Hill’s ‘NOS4R2’ For A TV Series

Stephen King adaptions are everywhere these days (not that we’re complaining). King’s son, Joe Hill, has inherited his father’s talent. AMC has noticed and has put into development a TV series based on Hill’s third novel, NOS4A2 (Nosferatu). The New York Times bestseller, a supernatural thriller, centers on Victoria McQueen, a woman with a gift for finding things. She sets out on a mission to find a superhuman kidnapper and rescue his victims. According to The Wrap, AMC has begun a writers’ room for the series, part of AMC’s script-to-series model that appoints a group of writers to produce a “season bible” and write multiple episodes. After those are complete the network will decide if it wants to go ahead with the show. Jami O’Brien will serve as executive producer for the series which is a co-production of AMC Studios and Tornate.

Akira Kurosawa’s Adaption Of Poe’s Masque Of The Red Death Entering Production

A movie adaption of Edgar Allen Poe’s terrifying tale, The Masque of the Red Death, is entering production. Originally adapted by Akira Kurosawa and set in Russia, it was set to be filmed back in 1998, but was never made due Kurosawa’s stroke, followed by his death. Chinese Studio’s Huayi Brothers in conjunction with CKF Pictures will breathe new life into the project by producing the film from Kurosawa’s screenplay. There is no word who will direct. Cinephilia & Beyond featured an English translation of the film’s plot, “humanity is faced with a deadly contagion, and people’s characters, resilience and survival are being tested as society is pushed well into the brinks of despair and possible annihilation.” Poe’s short story finds Prince Prospero as he attempts to avoid a plague, known as the “Red Death”, by seeking refuge in his abbey. New Line Adapting The Award Winning Novel Ice Beneath Her

Continuing with the trend of adaptions, New Line Cinema has set in motion the film adaption of Swedish author Camilla Grebe’s bestselling 2015 novel The Ice Beneath Her, a head of the book’s December debuts here in the U.S. American Sniper’s Andrew Lazar is attached to produce, according to Deadline. The Ice Beneath Her centers on a psychological profiler and an investigator working together to solve the case of a young woman found beheaded in the home of a prominent business man. There is no word yet who might be cast in the psychological thriller. We will give an update when we know more.
