The new Hellboy movie is building up an impressive cast, even though Ed Skrein did back out of his role as Major Ben Daimo believing there was a problem with “whitewashing” the originally Japanese character.
The latest to join the film is Penelope Mitchell (The Vampire Diaries) who has been cast Ganeida, an elder witch, Deadline reports. Mitchell will star alongside Ian McShane (American Gods) and David Harbour in the role of Hellboy.
The new film was written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, Aron Coleite, and Mike Mignola, Hellboy’s creator. Neil Marshall will be in the director’s chair.
