Short Film Review: For Her… Shows the Horror of Relationships!

Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

Jonathan and Elizabeth are a young couple in love, and everything is all red lingerie and fancy ass wine…but their are cracks beginning to show in the relationship; namely the fact that Jonathan believes Elizabeth is in the relationship simply for the comfort it provides and doesn’t really care about him, and the stress brought on by Elizabeth’s illness that brings with it a stunning case of the pukes. Enter Anne: A beautiful blonde ol’ J-Dawg meets in a local waterin’ hole (an as an aside, Jonathan is a good looking enough dude, but his drawing power with comely lasses boarders on the absurd…a.k.a. I’m jealous of a fictional character in a short film…also watching nothing but fright flicks may be starting to take it’s toll…but, I digress). So, Jon brings Anne home, they start getting into it heiß und schwer, and before you know it, we find out exactly why I’m reviewing a relationship drama on a horror site…there’s a twist, it’s awesome, and it makes For Her… a solid fright flick through and through!
For Her… will be available on Amazon Instant Video on Christmas Day, and I highly recommend you check it out. Director Daniel Mark Young and Writer James Craigie have managed to create a fresh spin on a classic horror icon (and no, I’m not spillin’ the beastly beans here), and created characters you become invested in (no small feat in a flick that runs shy of twenty minutes). The film is also well shot and edited, but that’s just ghoulish gravy as the acting and story are where it’s at with this one.
If I had any qualm with the picture it’s that I wanted more of it…more of the couples twisted life, more of the grizzly goods…more of everything…so maybe ol’ DMY will hear my putrid plea and offer up more from this wicked world of lovers and lacerations!
