We first reported back last year that AMC had plans for a new series from executive producer Ridley Scott titled ‘The Terror’. Now, AMC has finally announced the premiere date and unveiled the first images, and a sneak peek of the show.
The ten-episode series stars Jarad Harris (The Crown) as Captain Francis Crozier, ‘Outlander’s’ Tobias Menzies as Captain James Fitzjames, Ciarán Hinds of ‘Games of Thrones’ as Sir John Franklin, and Paul Ready (Cuffs) as Dr. Henry Goodsir. Adam Nagaitis, Nive Nielsen, Ian Hart, and Trystan Gravelle co-star.
Filmed in Budapest, Hungary, ‘The Terror’ will take viewers on a dark, intense journey that centers on the “Royal Navy’s voyage into uncharted territory as the crew attempts to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope, and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction. Frozen, isolated, and stuck at the end of the earth, ‘The Terror’ highlights all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements but with each other.”
The series, set in 1847, is based Dan Simmons’ novel of the same name. David Zucker, Alexander Milchan, Scott Lambert, with David Kajganich and Soo Hugh will executive produce alongside Ridley Scott. Kajganich and Hugh will serve as co-showrunners. Scott Free, Emjag Productions, and Entertainment 360 produce in association with AMC Studios.
The Terror captures a rare combination of fascinating history, complex and flawed characters, the inextinguishable human spirit and the horror and promise of an uncharted world,” said executive producers and co-showrunners David Kajganich (A Bigger Splash) and Soo Hugh (The Whispers) in a statement. “We are looking forward to bringing viewers into this world in March.”
Tune in to AMC on Monday, March 26, 2018, for the two-hour special premiere of ‘The Terror’. The full trailer will premiere during Sunday’s mid-season finale of ‘The Walking Dead’.
