Genre icons Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise) and Lin Shaye (Insidious franchise) teamed up again, this time for director Travis Zariwny’s The Midnight Man whose U.S. release date has now been announced for January.
Inspired by the video game, the film begins in 1956 and centers on a group of friends playing a game that doesn’t end well for the players. Fast forward to present day when a girl and her friends discover the game in the attic that summons the dark entity known as “The Midnight Man”, who uses their worst fears against them.
Emily Haine, Gabrielle Haugh, Summer H. Howell, Callie Lane, Keenan Lehmann, Louise Linton, Michael Sirow, and Luca Villacis co-star with Kyle Strauts playing the Midnight Man. Travis Zariwny penned the script based on Rob Kennedy’s screenplay.
Zariwny’s The Midnight Man, which should not be confused with Aitor Uribarri’s The Midnight Man (2017), will arrive in American theaters and on VOD on Friday, January 19, 2018, from IFC Midnight.
