VMI Worldwide has just announced that it has acquired the new mother-daughter survival thriller The Russian Bride, directed by Michael S. Ojeda (Avenged).

The film has just been screened at the European Film Market (EFM) and has brand new artwork.
We are excited to have VMI on board as our sales agent,” says producer Jeff Miller (Clowntown, Inoperable). “We felt they ‘got’ the movie, and they pursued us.”
Coming off of a successful EFM for The Russian Bride, we look forward to continuing to sell the picture,” says VMI president Andre Relis. “Ojeda has a keen eye for horror which has continued to amaze distributors and attain festival excitement.”
The soundtrack will feature songs by noted composer John Murphy (28 Days Later, Kick Ass). Murphy released Anonymous Rejected Filmscore in 2014, and that soundtrack, renowned for being passed on by a studio head before becoming critically
acclaimed, provided inspiration to Ojeda while writing and directing The Russian Bride.
I have been a huge fan of John Murphy’s since 28 Days Later,” says Ojeda, “and I waslistening to his most recent album, Anonymous Rejected, a compilation of movie scores that never made the cut. These incredible tracks, which deserved an audience, stirred myimagination and were my inspiration for writing The Russian Bride. I later reached out to John, who saw my passion for the music and made it possible for me to bring my story and hismusic together, to create my vision without compromise. It’s a real honor to have my name on the screen with a music legend who has collaborated with directors Danny Boyle and Michael Mann, two great masters of cinema who have made a indelible impact on my own directorial style.”
The Russian Bride stars Corbin Bernsen (“L.A. Law,” The Dentist), Oksana Orlan, and
11-year-old supermodel Kristina Pimenova in her first major acting role.
The film centers on a young Russian woman (Orlan) and her daughter (Pimenova)
who come to America to marry a reclusive billionaire (Bernsen), but they soon discover he has sinister plans in store for them. They soon find themselves fighting for their lives.
Miller produced along with Philip Day, Kimberley T. Zulkowski, Stephen Gregory Curtis, and Oksana Orlan. Gregory O’Gallagher, Guido Den Broeder, Henry Penzi, Glikeriya Pimenova, and Edward Sorokine serve as executive producers. Jason Gurvitz and Chris Nicoletti co-produced. Kristy Ojeda, Allison Geddie, and William Kalinak are listed as associate producers.
Writer/director Ojeda’s supernatural horror thriller Avenged(aka Savaged), a revenge tale about a woman reincarnated as the spirit of an Apache warrior, was a critical and commercial hit, playing at Sitges, Frightfest, Screamfest, and many other fests before its release in 2015.
