DC’s upcoming digital service, named DC Universe, has ordered a script-to-series order for “Swamp Thing”, based on the comic character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Deadline is reporting.
The project is from horror-heavy-hitter James Wan’s Atomic Monster, the same company behind The Conjuring universe which also includes The Nun and the Annabelle franchise. Wan also co-created Saw and the Insidious franchise.

“Swamp Thing” is written by Mark Verheiden, who also penned the scripts for the “Ash vs. Evil Dead” series that just ended after its third season. Gary Dauberman, the writer behind Stephen King’s IT, is co-writing the series. That’s one hell of a team!
Dauberman and Verheiden will serve as executive producers along with James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett.
“Swamp Thing” is aiming for a 2019 premiere on DC Universe, which will be launched later this year.
