Jonathan Majors (Hostile) will be starring along with Jurnee Smollett-Bell in HBO’s upcoming series “Lovecraft Country,” from Jordan Peele (Get Out) and his company MonkeyPaw Productions along with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. Television.
Based on the novel by Matt Ruff and written by Misha Green, “‘Lovecraft Country’ follows Atticus Black as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.“
Majors will play the role of Atticus Black, a Korean war vet who always keeps a pulp novel in his back pocket, and wears his heart on his sleeve while facing the daily life of dealing with Jim Crom America.
Yann Demange will be directing as well as executive producing the premiere episode.
