Jordan Peele made his directorial debut with the socially conscious film Get Out. Today, via his social media sites, Peele announced the title of its successor, Us.
Sources told Variety that Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) are in negotiations for two of the lead roles.
Us will be the first project under his and his company Monkeypaw Productions’ first-look deal with Universal Pictures. The deal was inked following its box office run that landed it the number one spot on most movie lists and glowing reviews from critics and viewers alike. Peele even scored an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.
While the plot is still being kept under wraps, we do know that the film will open in theaters in March of 2019.
Peele will both write and direct Us, as well as produce it under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. Sean McKittrick and Jason Blum will also produce.
We’ll keep you posted.
