With filming underway for directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch‘s upcoming Pet Sematary adaptation, we’ve been waiting for two more key cast members to be announced.
We’ve already reported that Jason Clarke (Winchester) is set to star as Louis Creed, with Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) playing the role of his wife Rachel. John Lithgow has been cast as their neighbor Jud Crandall.
News has come today that the roles of Gage and Ellie Creed, the film’s two youngest characters, have been cast.
Jeté Laurence will play the role of sweet young Ellie, a kid who dearly loves her cat Church (aka Churchill). Laurence already has quite a few roles under her belt, including “Jessica Jones”, The Snowman, and “The Americans”.
Gage, who remains one the most horrifying child characters in horror, will be played by three-year-old twins Hugo and Lucas Lavoie.
In the film, “Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie ‘Pet Sematary’ located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.”
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Steven Schneider, and Mark Vahradian will be producing the film, which is set to open in theaters on April 5, 2019.
