USA’s series adaptation “The Purge“, which revolves around the 12-hour annual event where all crime is legal, has been renewed for its second season.
Jason Blum of Blumhouse was very excited about the news for the series that Blumhouse produces.
“James Demonaco has done it again: the propulsive and compelling story he crafted for Season 1 of The Purge truly resonated with audiences in a significant way. We are thrilled to embark on Season 2, and can’t wait to bring more of James’ vision to USA and fans of The Purge.”
Set in an America ruled by a totalitarian government, the show follows several characters living in a small city. During the 12 hour period where all crime is legal, each character is forced to discover how far they will go to survive the night.
The cast for season one includes Billy Baldwin, Gabrial Chavarria, Jessica Garza, Hanah Anderson, Colin Woodell, Reed Diamond, Lili Simmons, Amanda Warren, and Paulina Gálvez. The series was written by The Purge franchise creator James DeMonaco who also executive produced along with Thomas Kelly, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Sebastien K. Lemercier, and Andrew Form for Platinum Dunes. The series is a co-production with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Television and Universal Cable Productions.
There is no word yet when season 2 will premiere.
