TV Networks have turned to the movie industry with a record number of film to series adaptations in the works. One of the latest in the works is Starship Troopers.

Screenwriter Ed Neumeier revealed the news during a recent interview that he is returning to pen the series. But that’s not all, according to Neumeier, the original cast is on board.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but we are talking about trying to do a television show that is based on the idea.

Neumeier is currently on the hunt for the series a home. With the number of special effects that would be required for the series, it would need to be backed by a big network, like Netflix or Hulu.

This is not the first time a series version of Starship Troopers has been discussed. Back in 2015 producer Neal H. Moritz brought up doing either a series adaptation or another feature, but neither came to fruition.

The original 1997 movie spawned several sequels, including an animated film about the war between humans and alien bugs. The cast includes Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Ironside, Patrick Muldoon, and Clancy Brown. During our interview with Casper Van Dien this summer he spoke fondly of the movie which he described as “surreal”.
