Just one week after its premiere, DC Universe has already canceled its series adaptation of “Swamp Thing”. The news comes as no surprise seeing that filming was cut short before all of the planned episodes for its first season could be made.

Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed). When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.”

The James Wan produced series also stars Derek Mears who plays the role of Swamp Thing, Crystal Reed, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Kevin Durand, Ian Ziering, Henderson Wade, Maria Sten, and Jeryl Prescott also star.

Directors of the show, inspired by the comic by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, include E.L. Katz and Len Wiseman. “Swamp Thing” is written by Mark Verheiden (Ash vs Evil Dead) and Gary Dauberman (IT).
