The Craft is the latest horror classic to fall prey to Hollywood’s obsession with remakes. Variety is reporting that Bad Times at the El Royale actress Cailee Spaeny is currently in final negotiations to star as one of the young witches.

In the 1996 original, “a newcomer to a Catholic prep high school falls in with a trio of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft, and they all soon conjure up various spells and curses against those who anger them.” Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True starred. Life in Pieces’ Zoe Lister-Jones will both write and direct the remake. Doug Wick, the producer of the original The Craft, will return to produce along with partner Lucy Fisher under their Red Wagon banner.

The Craft is aiming to begin filming this July.
