Following a flood of entertainment news from SDCC, news came that two-time Oscar winner and “True Detective” star Mahershala Ali is gearing up to hunt down vampires in Marvel’s new Blade movie!

During the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con last night Ali appeared and revealed the news that he is will be starring as the badass day-walker Blade, the character made iconic by Wesley Snipes.

There are no other details available yet, but we assume that the movie will be out in late 2020 or early 2021. We’ll keep you posted.

Personally, I think it’s a good fit, especially if Ali beefs up. He’s an incredible actor (he’s got two Oscars for God’s sake). He was fantastic in “True Detective” and in “Luke Cage”, in which he plays the villain Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes. If you haven’t seen either series, I strongly recommend that you do so. You will find “True Detective” on Prime and “Luke Cage” on Netflix.
