Imagine if “Jumanji” made you kill people. That’s the impetus behind Game of Death as a group of millennials find themselves playing a board game where they have to kill (or be killed) to survive.
Directors Laurence “Baz” Moraid and Sébastien Landry combine their backgrounds in film, video, art direction, and game design to create a wild, highly stylized cinematic ride that’s one part black comedy, one part teen drama, and one part bloody horror flick.
Kill or be killed is the golden rule of the Game of Death. Unfortunately, a group of seven millennials ignored that rule. Now, each one’s head will explode unless they kill someone. Will they turn on each other to survive, or will this sunny day be the last for the innocent people of their middle-of-nowhere town?
Sam Earle, Victoria Diamond, Emelia Hellman, Catherine Saindon, Nick Serino, Erniel Baez D., Thomas Vallieres, and Jane Hackett star in Game of Death is a schlocky gore-horror comedy plump with exploding heads, torrents of blood and torn apart torsos, described as “Jumanji meets Natural Born Killers.”
The film had its world premiere at SXSW, was officially selected at SITGES, Toronto After Dark, Fantasia, and FrighFest, and won 5 awards
Philip Kalin-Hajdu, Pierre-Alexandre Bouchard, Mathias Bernard, and Antoine Disle produced with Michael Kraetzer and Nicolás Onetti serving as associate producers.
