Mike Flanagan has been teasing that the second season of his Netflix original series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” will be more frightening than the “The Haunting of Hill House” which was absolutely fantastic.
Originally thought to just be an adaptation of Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw,” Flanagan revealed to Games Radar that the series will also feature more of James’ tales.
The thing I have access to, that no other adaptation of Turn of the Screw has, is the rest of Henry James’ ghost stories. I get to use all of them.” Flanagan continued, “The Turn of the Screw is only one of a dozen stories that we re telling. All Henry James; all thematically linked. I think of Turn of the Screw as the backbone of this season – the through line that carries us from beginning to end. But we get to go off into The Jolly Corner and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes, and so many other of these wonderful ghost stories that people haven’t seen adapted before.”
“The Haunting of Hill House’s” Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Pedretti, Kate Siegel, Henry James, and Catherine Parker will all be returning for the anthology series’ second season. Rahul Kohi, T’Nai Miller, Amelia Eve, Amelie Smith, and Benjamin Ainsworth will join them.
The series is written and directed by Flanagan who also executive produced by his partner Trevor Macy, Amblin’s Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey.
“The Haunting of Bly Manor” will premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
