In 2019 Ari Aster unleashed his disturbing, hit film Midsommar (review). Now, he’s teasing his next project.

During a Reddit Ask-Me-Anything session, the Hereditary director stated that his next film will either be a “zonky nightmare comedy” or a “big, sickly domestic melodrama” saying either project would fit in with both Midsommar and Hereditary. Aster also described the second film as an “anxiety comedy” and  “an absurdist, evil comedy.”

Recently, while speaking to a group of UC Santa Barbara’s students, Aster teased that he’s completed a new draft of the “nightmare comedy.” Aster also said that the film will be even longer than Midsommar‘s extended cut which is 147 minutes long and more disturbing than the film’s theatrical release, saying “All I know is that it’s gonna be four hours long,” Aster stated. It can be noted that both of its predecessors were over two hours long.

As soon as we know more we’ll give you an update.
