You can call his name five times, but Candyman won’t be making an appearance anytime soon. News has come that Nia DaCosta‘s Candyman has been pulled from release. Originally set to open in theaters in June and then moved to next month, Candyman will now arrive sometime next year thanks to the damn Coronavirus!
The movie starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (US, Aquaman), Tony Todd (Candyman), Teyonah Parris, Colman Domingo, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is produced by horror heavy hitter Jordan Peel who co-wrote the script along with Win Rosenfield.
Candyman returns to the neighborhood where the legend began, where Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood. We all know not to say the legend’s name five times, but the characters in the movie say it anyway and bring down Candyman’s wrath upon themselves.
We’ll keep you posted. Hopefully, a new release date will be announced soon.
