Directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods, upcoming Captain Marvel 2), who breathes new life into the classic horror franchise with the movie that is out now On Demand. “For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In the present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II; HBO’s “Watchmen”, Us) and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris; If Beale Street Could Talk, The Photograph), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials. Candyman’s Virginia Madsen Stars In The Supernatural Horror ‘The Devil’s Light’

On Halloween last year, Lionsgate announce the supernatural horror The Devil’s Light. Today, we can report that film has scored a February 22, 2022 release date, reports out of CinemaCon state. Star of the Candyman franchise, Virginia Madsen appears alongside Jackie Ryers (“The Strain”) and Colin Salmon (Resident Evil) in the film in which “reports of demonic possessions reaching unprecedented numbers globally, and the Vatican opens schools for exorcisms in six countries including the United States.” Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism) is in the director’s chair and is directing from the script penned by Halloween H2O‘s Robert Zappia. “The Devil’s Light tells the story of Sister Ann, a restless 25-year-old, who devoutly believes that performing exorcisms is her calling. But she is at odds with the institution’s traditions: sisters are not allowed to perform exorcisms, only priests. With the support of a mentor, a professor who senses her special gift, she is allowed to observe actual training sessions. Her desire

Movie Review: ‘Candyman’ Is Worthy Of All The Buzz

One of the films I’ve been looking forward to seeing the most this year is the new installment of the Candyman franchise and tonight I finally got my chance. Director Nia DaCosta breathes new life into the franchise that gave me nightmares back in 1992 when the original premiered, telling the story of Daniel Robitaille, played by Tony Todd. The new movie starts off with all of the credits appearing in reverse, which is how you would see it if you were looking in a mirror. It is a fun touch. Candyman begins with Anthony, an artist looking for inspiration. When he hears the tale of Candyman he sets out to investigate, not knowing the hell he’s about to unleash on the newly gentrified Cabrini Green and not knowing that he is connected to the legend. I’ll be honest, I was not sure what to expect from the new film. I was concerned that it might not have the same

Jordan Peele is a busy guy. Not only does he have multiple series currently on TV including “Twilight Zone,” “Hunters,” and the brilliant series “Lovecraft Country” he’s also been busy producing films including Nia DaCosta’s Candyman.
