Saban Films takes us back in the woods with the first trailer for Mike P. Nelson‘s (The Domestics) new take on 2003’s hillbilly horror Wrong Turn.

Before you complain about it being a reboot, you should know that Alan B. McElroy, who wrote the original, wrote the new film’s script too.

“Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen (Charlotte Vega) and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into the land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return— unless Jen’s father (Golden Globe® nominee Matthew Modine) can reach them in time.”

Matthew Modine (“Stranger Things”), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Haunt), Bill Sage (“Hap and Leonard”), Emma Dumont (“The Gifted”), Chaney Morrow (Haunt), Valerie Jane Parker (“Greenleaf”), and David Hutchinson (“American Horror Story”) star.

Rated “R” for strong bloody violence, grisly images, and pervasive language, Wrong Turn will open in theaters for one night only on January 26, 2021.
