Details surrounding The Forever Purge, the last film of the franchise, have begun to emerge including the new release date and details about its plot.
THR reports that according to its sources, the movie “takes the Purge out of its usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have.”
The Forever Purge‘s first image debuted earlier today over at Total Film. They also report that the movie will take place after the events of Election Year and will center on Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who finds solace at a Texan ranch, having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. But things “go awry when a group of outsiders decides to keep purging beyond the allotted time when people can break any and all laws.”
The Forever Purge stars “True Detective’s” Leven Rambin, as well as Will Patton, Cassidy Freeman, Ana de la Reguera, and Tenoch Huerta. The Purge franchise creator James DeMonaco returned to pen the script for the new movie.
Originally set to open in theaters in July of 2020, The Forever Purge will now be released in theaters on July 9th, 2021.
