If I have said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, 2018’s Overlord was freaking fantastic, so needless to say I have high expectations for director Julius Avery‘s new dark superhero movie Samaritan starring action hero and general badass Sylversten Stallone (Rocky, Rambo).
In the movie, based on an original idea, a young boy learns that a superhero who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty years ago may in fact still be around.
Today we’ve got a new image (via Total Films) of Stallone’s title character protecting Javon Walton’s character while in a traffic tunnel.
This is a big event movie – we see our heroes kicking ass,” Avery recently told Total Film. “We’re going to see Sly do things he hasn’t done in a long time, and in a really inventive way. He’s 73 years old! I’m amazed by how much he actually does. I’m telling you, most guys in their twenties wouldn’t be able to do what Sly does in this movie.”
Stallone will not only be starring but producing as well under his new banner Balboa Productions.
Samaritan was originally scheduled to be released this past November but was delayed by the pandemic. The new release date is June 4, 2021. Check out a couple of behind-the-scenes images that have also surfaced.
