A24 has snagged the world rights for the under-the-radar ghost story The Eternal Daughter, starring Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Suspiria, Constantine).
The paranormal mystery-thriller, which is currently in post-production, centers on the story of a middle-aged daughter and her elderly mother who must confront long-buried secrets when they return to their former family home, a once-grand manor that has become a nearly vacant hotel brimming with mystery. Deadline reports.
Joseph Mydell (Tonight You’re Mine), Carly Davies (The enemy), and Alfie Sankey-Green (Downtown Abbey) also star.
Shot in secret in Wales during the lockdown, the project re-teams Swinton with director Joanna Hogg after they recently collaborated on the movie The Souvenir and the upcoming sequel The Souvenir Part 2, which will premiere later this year.
The film is produced by Normal People and Room producers Element Pictures and JWH Films, with backing from BBC Film. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese will serve as executive producer.
We’ll keep you posted.
