The Stephen King adaptations just keep coming, not that we’re complaining. The newest adaptation on its way is The Running Man, which will be developed and directed by Last Night in Soho‘s Edgar Wright for Paramount.
Michael Becall (Inglorious Bastards, 21 Jump Street) will be writing the script, which will more closely follow King’s book than the 1987 adaptation that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger did.
The 1982 book, published under King’s pseudonym, Richard Bachman, follows protagonist Ben Richards as he participates in the game show “The Running Man” that features contestants being chased by “Hunters” out to kill them.
Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, and Nira Park are producing the feature.
Here’s a look back at the trailer for The Running Man (1987).
