It’s been over a decade since Neill Blomkamp blurred the line between sci-fi and horror with District 9. Now, it appears that the story of the unfortunate government worker Wikus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copley) turned alien hybrid, will continue in the sequel, District 10.
Blomkamp revealed on Twitter that a sequel is indeed finally on its way with Copley returning along with the original’s co-writer Terri Tatchell penning the screenplay.
In District 9, an extraterrestrial race is forced to live in refugee camps/slums on Earth. A government agent is exposed to their technology which begins to transform him into one of them.
During an interview with Blomkamp, the director talked with us about some of his projects. Since then he has several new films in the works including a Robocop movie and Demonic, a horror film he made in secret that has just been announced.
Here’s a look back at the 2009 District 9 trailer.
