One of my favorite things is opening my door to find boxes, so when I heard a knock at my door Monday I came out to find a big heavy box I was thrilled. I cut the tape and open the top and found bunches of paper stuffing. As I began digging I was excited to find my new “Supernatural: The Complete Series” Blu-ray/DVD box set. Let me tell you about it.

This incredible, moving, action-packed series stars Jared Padalecki as Sam and Jensen Ackles as Dean, the Winchester brothers. Created by Eric Kripke the hit series has spanned fifteen seasons. While it is a horror series, “Supernatural” is at its heart about family. Brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, since day one, have always been on a mission to rid the world of dangerous monsters, but along the way, they have formed their own unique family while trying to save the world and each other from all types of monsters, vampires, werewolves, witches, angels, demons, and everything in between.

“Supernatural” is like no other series and over the years has formed an army of dedicated fans, including this writer. While we watched the boys fight battle after battle, we’ve seen them evolve into men, into heroes. They are without a doubt two of the noblest, most heroic characters ever created.

This box set is the ultimate collector’s item for fans. The box itself features a touching image of Sam and Dean on one side and the Winchesters driving off into the sunset on the other. The hard outer box has a metallic sheen to it with gold and brown hues. Inside it you will find 86 discs if you order DVD and 58 discs if you chose Blu-ray, containing all 327 episodes and more! Not only does the collection come with all fifteen seasons, but it also comes with a disc filled with bonus features and a sixty-eight-page book that features letters, new images, and much more.

I remember watching the episodes as they aired, but this time, the picture and sound were more incredible, rich, and bold. The disc, in full HD, features DTS-HD Master Audio that creates a brilliant sound.  There’s more than just the look and sound that sets the set apart, the set gives you multiple ways to watch including Blu-ray or DVDs, and a digital copy of the series so you can watch on the go.

The Special Features disc includes:

  • Supernatural: The End of the Road
  • Supernatural: Family Don’t End In Blood
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Supernatural: 2019 Comic-Con panel
  • Winning Baby: A Supernatural Giveaway
  • Winchester Mythology: Midwestern Heroes
  • Supernatural: The Long Road Home – Special Retrospective Episode

Titled Supernatural the End of the Road, the purple translucent disc includes multiple chapters, featuring the cast and crew talking about the series, characters, stories, and how hard it was to say goodbye after fifteen seasons. They explore the unique family the Winchesters have created for themselves and how the theme of family is what has always driven the series. The cast also discusses the series and its history from the premiere episode through the final goodbye, as well as what inspired the show’s creation.

We get an in-depth look at Sam and Dean’s development over the years. We also learn more about key characters such as Jim Beaver’s character Bobby who became a father figure for the Winchesters. Did you know Bobby was introduced as a limited role but became a permanent character due to the fan’s affection for him? The special features are filled to the brim with interesting facts such as that one.

Of course, no “Supernatural” collection would be complete without a gag reel and deleted scenes. This feature is a must-see and it will have you in stitches.

I could go on and on about everything included in the bonus features, but we’d be here all night. There is just so much amazing video packed onto this disc.

Last, but not least, you will receive a 68-page collectible book filled with new images from the beloved series, set designs, and letters to the “Supernatural” family from both Eric Kripke and Robert Singer.

For me, like many fans, “Supernatural” has long been a part of my life. I’ve been a fan since day one and have cheered on the Winchesters through it all. I’ll admit I was so sad when I found out the series was ending, but now I see that it was a good thing. The show went out on top before they were made to make sacrifices at the cost of the story. And the ending, well, it couldn’t have been more appropriate and touching.

My verdict, “Supernatural: The Complete Series” is a must-have for true “SPN” fans. You’re going to want to watch it over and over. The beautiful box will look great as part of your collection and will be a great item to share with your kids down the road.

Supernatural: The Complete Series can be yours for $359.99, and it is totally worth it to have fifteen years of “Supernatural” at your fingertips. The box set couldn’t have been better. You can own  “Supernatural: The Complete Series” on May 25, 2021, from Warner Bros. Entertainment. The set will be available from all major stores.
