The movie is primarily in English, featuring an American lead character who fights to protect his wife and child who are in the building. It will also feature Japanese, Cantonese, and Korean languages.

Bizhan M. Tong is both directing and producing Chungking Mansions with Phoenix Waters Productions in co-production with AMM Global.

Chungking Mansions contributes to the evolving tapestry of zombie lore while paying tribute to the socially charged narratives of George A. Romero, bringing it closer in tone to Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us.” Director Tong told Deadline.

Chungking Mansions is set to begin production in the Spring.

Never heard of the building? Let us fill you in. Completed in 1961, Chungking Mansions is located at  36–44 Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The 17-story building is not only the residence of more than 4,000 people, it also houses businesses, hotels, and more with an estimated 10,000 people entering and leaving the building on a daily basis.
