Just a few days ago we reported that an adaptation of Stephen King‘s “Later” is being adapted for a new series. Now, news has come that another King adaptation is on its way, based on his short story The Boogeyman, which was featured in King’s collection The Night Shift.
Sophie Thatcher, the breakout star from “Yellowjackets”, is set to star in the Hulu Original feature film from 20th Century Fox. Thatcher will star alongside Chris Messina (Birds of Prey). Rob Savage (Host) is in the director’s chair with 21 Laps’ Shawn Levine and Dan Cohen producing. Mark Heyman penned the last version of the script.
The original story centers on a man who visits a psychiatrist after coming to believe that his children were murdered by an evil entity known as the Boogeyman.
Thatcher will play “a teenage girl who is still reeling from the tragic death of her mother, who, along with her little brother, finds herself plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggles to get her grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”
Production on The Boogeyman is set to begin later this month. For more news on the other King adaptions head your way, and there’s a bunch of them, you find a list here.
