Earlier this year, Amazon Prime’s series “The Wheel of Time” introduced us to an amazing world of fantasy, magic, and horror. Luckily the series was already renewed for its second season before the first even premiered. The new season began filming this past July. So, the question is, when will season two premiere?

With Prime concentrating on their upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series, it’s likely the new season will premiere sometime between October of 2022 and spring of 2023.

The series, based on the book’s series by author Robert Jordan, is from showrunner Rafe Judkins and is set in a world where magic exists, but only some can access it, a woman named Moiraine crosses paths with five young men and women. This sparks a dangerous, world-spanning journey.

The new season will see old characters return and new ones introduced. Barney Harris will not be returning as Mat and is being replaced by “The Witcher” actor Dónal Finn.  Guy Roberts returns as Uno Nomesta, the one-eyed soldier. Hammed Animashaun reprises his role as fan-favorite Loial. Arnas Fedaravicius (The Last Kingdom) also joins the cast as Masema Dagar, a soldier turned prophet. Ceara Coveney joins the cast as Elayne Trakand, a royal-born, and a powerful channeler. They are joined by Meera Syal (Yesterday, The Kumars), and Natasha O’Keefe (“Peaky Blinders”) whose characters are yet to be named.

The new eight-episode season will draw from books two and three of the series that features fourteen installments. Judkins has already stated that if he has his way about it, the series will have eight seasons, and we’re here for it.

As soon as an exact premiere date is announced we’ll let you know. If you have yet to watch the first season, now would be a good time to do so. It’s streaming now on Prime Video. Here’s a look back at the first season’s trailer.
