Due to overwhelming demand, as of this weekend, IFC Midnight and Shudder’s viral sensation Skinamrink is getting an expanded theatrical release in 800 more theaters (get tickets here) after earning 67 times its budget of just $15,000 at the box office in just six days.
Kyle Edward Ball, who is making his directorial debut, also penned the indie film in which “two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished. To cope with the strange situation, the two bring pillows and blankets to the living room and settle into a quiet slumber party. They play well-worn videotapes of cartoons to fill the silence of the house and distract from the frightening and inexplicable situation. All the while in the hopes that, eventually, some grown-ups will come to rescue them. However, it becomes clear that something is watching over them after a while.”
The hit, unnerving film stars Lucas Paul, Dali Rose Tetreault, Ross Paul, and Jaime Hill. It is executive produced by Edmon Rotea, Ava Karvonen, Bonnie Lewis, Alan Lewis, Josh Doke, and Jonathan Barkan.
While there’s nothing like seeing it on the big screen, if you can’t make it to theaters, don’t worry. You won’t have to wait long to see it. Skinamarink will be heading exclusively to Shudder on February 2, 2023.
