When you think of Sam Raimi, many killer films come to mind: Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Don’t Breathe, and Spider-Man.
One of his most underrated and frightening films is the supernatural horror Drag Me to Hell, which shocked fans when it was released in 2009. Recently, the acclaimed director-writer-producer made a statement on Reddit during a talk about the new film 65, teasing fans that a sequel to Drag Me to Hell may very well be on its way. And we couldn’t be more excited!
“The team at Ghost House Pictures: Romel Adam and Jose Canas, are trying to come up with a story that would work and I’m anxious to hear if they do!”
In Drag Me to Hell, which Raimi both wrote and directed, A loan officer who evicts an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.
The film, which has forever given me a fear of adult goats, stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed that Raimi delivers a sequel. If you haven’t seen this gem or want to rewatch it, it’s now streaming free on STARZ and AppleTV and is available for rent or purchase on most services.
