Hot Girl Summer is over. It’s time for Psych Horror Summer.

AWA Studios is set to release a new 5-part comic series this summer called Sins of the Salton Sea, written by Ed Brisson (Old Man Logan, Batman Incorporated, X-Force) with artwork by C.P. Smith (Wolverine: Blood & Sorrow, The Resistance Universe: The Origins). Axel Alonso (AWA Studio’s Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer) described it as “part conspiracy thriller, part chase movie, part cult-based horror, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers wondering, is Wyatt doing the right thing…?

Sins of the Salton Sea is about a professional thief named Wyatt living off the grid in the aftermath of a horrible tragedy. His brother reaches out to do one last job involving an armored car traveling down a desolate stretch of California highway, but they discover the armored car isn’t carrying gold bars. It’s carrying human cargo. Wyatt is then plunged into the middle of a conflict between warring factions of a doomsday cult, The Sons of the Salton Sea, who claim it’s their duty to save the world by means of human sacrifice. Wyatt must decide if he will protect the boy who has come into his charge or be swayed by the cult’s convincing claims that the end of the world is fast approaching.

Ahh yes, the age old dilemma: to sacrifice the child or not to sacrifice the child?
What if the kid’s evil or, like, just super annoying?

You’ll have to read the series to find out Wyatt’s choice.

Sins of the Salton Sea will be available digitally and in stores on June 7, 2023.
