Plot And Cast Revealed For ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife II’

Who you gonna call? The Ghostbusters are back for the fourth movie, a direct sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Some of the plot details have just surfaced. Here’s what we know so far.

 

The plot goes like this: “After the events in Oklahoma, the Ghostbusters team returns to where it all started; New York City! The Spengler family story continues with a new group of Ghostbusters led by Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) and Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd).”

 

Dan Aykroyd and Earnie Hudson aren’t the only past Ghostbusters returning for the franchise’s fourth installment. Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard are putting on proton backs for the second time. Paul Rudd, Patton Oswald, and Carrie Coon are also back. Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Alyn Lind, Celeste O’Connor, and James Acaster co-star.

 

Recently, Afterlife director Jason Reitman appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, teasing that the sequel could feature an appearance from Vigo The Carpathian, who wreaked havoc in New York in the 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters II.

 

Reitman said, “There is a lot of time and opportunity for Vigo The Carpathian to make his return.

 

Gil Kenan (Poltergeist 2015), who co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will be directing Ghostbusters: Afterlife II from the script he wrote with Reitman. Kenan penned the script for Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the new sequel along with Reitman.

 

Going by filming locations, the movie will likely be split between New York and London, where it is currently filming.
