1985 was a good year… well I say it was because that’s my birth year. But to those who are fans of the 80s, that was the height of that decade people look back fondly on, and to those in the know, it was DnD and VHS tapes. The folks over at 1985 Games have found a way to combine the two in the most unique way to bring a smile to your face, their VHS Dice sets. I want to give a major thank you to Lenny and the other awesome adventurers over at 1985 Games for reaching out and making this review possible!

To start off, the packaging really hit hard for me as it brought back fond memories of digging through the mountains of VHS tapes to find the one that had Big Trouble in Little China on it, yeah that’s right I was 4-6 years old and watched that movie nearly to death, so sue me. The mini replica of the VHS tapes has a foam insert that houses seven RPG dice.

I have the Surge and Crytal Ball  VHS Dice sets. The dice are in the sharp-edge style of dice that are homemade by 1985 Games, making each set unique from the set before. The dice are easy to read and roll well on a dice mat or textured surface as they tend to slide on smooth surfaces than roll.

For the price, you get a nice set of dice (didn’t mean to turn into a bard there…) that would make a great gift for your favorite DM or Adventurer in your life OR a nice gift for yourself, either way, the VHS Dice sets are great to add to your dice collection either to put on display or to bring to a gaming session, these are dice worthy of any RPG player/fan.
