Odds are you have heard of the infamous haunted attraction McKamey Manor. The place many compare to experiencing being trapped in a real-life horror movie. The new documentary Monster Inside: America’s Most Extreme Haunted House delves into infamous, brutal attraction owned by Navy Veteran Russ McKamey.

By cultivating an online persona and a cult-like following, Russ was allowed to display his basest instincts and rewarded with online fame and notoriety. Driven by his personal fixations, he turned his backyard haunt into a bona fide torture chamber: videotaping “contestants,” particularly vulnerable young women, as he sees how far he can push them – both inside and outside of the haunt.

Merging documentary storytelling with the visual and cinematic language of a horror film, MONSTER INSIDE follows three participants as they dive deep into Russ’s world and then find the will to fight back.

Surrounded by controversy, McKamey Manor has been the ultimate terrifying attraction for years, and is open all year long. But you can’t just get in. It all begins with a waiting list that normally features over 20,000 names. Next, you have to have a doctors note and have to sign a 40 page liability waiver. The reason? It’s reported that those who enter may face both psychological terror and physical with reports of participants receiving broken teeth, cuts, bruises, and experience torture such as water boarding and near-drowning over the eight to ten hour experience  Oh, and no one has made it all the way through to claim the $20,000 prize.

Witness the horrors of McKamey Manor in Monster Inside: America’s Most Extreme Haunted House, premieings as part of Huluween on October 12, 2023 on Hulu.
