Jermaine Fowler, hot off the heels of his role in this year’s horror comedy The Blackening, is returning to the genre for the new, yet-to-be-titled psychological horror from director Steve Pink, who brought you the laugh-out-loud comedy Hot Tub Time Machine and the Netflix horror-comedy series “Santa Clarita Diet.”
Deadline reports that the film “follows Allen Perkins (Fowler) through various twists and turns on a descent into darkness as he hosts his old college pals for the weekend.” The site also states that the mysterious movie features elements of horror, sci-fi, and the supernatural.
Pink describes the untitled movie as “One of the coolest films I have ever had the opportunity to direct in my career.” He continues “I’m grateful for the extraordinary cast that came together around a phenomenal script that explores themes residing in the darker and possibly supernatural corners of the human experience, This film blurs the lines between thriller, science fiction, and comedy elements in a way that will keep audiences surprised and at times, downright terrified!”
Written by Sam Johnson and Connor Diedrich, the movie also stars James Morosini (I Love My Dad), Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Rob Yang (“Succession”), Edy Modica (Jury Duty), and Brendan Hunt (“Ted Lasso”).
Josh Jason and Molly Gilula of Hurley/Pickle Productions produce along with Molly Conners of Phiphen, Chalamet, Rachel Walden, and Luca Balser of Gummy Films, as well as AJ Bourscheid and Austin Lantero of Range Media Partners.
The untitled movie has wrapped production and will follow Fowler’s upcoming reboot of Faces of Death. We’ll keep you posted.
