The critically acclaimed MAX post-apocalyptic drama “The Last of Us” continues to build an all-star cast for its second season. Comedy legend Catherine O’Hara has been added to the already impressive roster.

O’Hara is known for her iconic characters like Delia in Beetlejuice, a role she’s reprising in the upcoming sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. She’s also known for her role in the comedy series “Schitt’s Creek.”

O’Hara’s casting marks a surprising and exciting departure from her typical comedic territory. While details about O’Hara’s character remain shrouded in mystery, her comedic brilliance suggests a potential for both wit and warmth amidst the show’s bleak dystopia. Could she be a hardened survivor with a sharp tongue? A beacon of hope in a desolate world? Or perhaps something entirely different?

A Cast Fit for a Pandemic World:

Co-created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, “The Last of Us” is an adaptation of the award-winning video game of the same name. The series was nominated for 24 awards and took home eight Emmys for its impressive first season.

Season two expands the already impressive ensemble, with Kaitlyn Dever portraying the vengeful Abby, Isabela Merced taking on the role of Ellie’s love interest Dina, and Young Mazino joining as the kind-hearted Jesse. They join the series’ stars, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

Raising the Bar, Season After Season:

Season one boasted guest stars like Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, and Lamar Johnson. Now, season two appears determined to top that list. The show’s commitment to building a diverse and talented cast reflects its dedication to delivering a captivating and nuanced post-apocalyptic narrative.

Patience is a Virtue (and Infected Clickers):

Although filming for season two begins this year, fans will have to wait until 2025 to explore the treacherous world of “The Last of Us.” While the wait may be long, the promise of powerful performances and the show’s continued commitment to excellence make it worth enduring.
