Today, Paramount+ and Showtime have unveiled the first images from the highly anticipated upcoming “Dexter” prequel series  “Dexter: Original Sin.“.

One image features Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter Morgan and Christian Slater as Dexter’s father. The two are standing together in a kitchen with rags in hand, which is a typical father-and-son moment. Another image is much darker. We see Dexter (Gibson) leaning over a plastic-wrapped body, which is true to the killer’s M.O.. More images follow that give glimpses of our main characters.

The prequel explores Dexter’s formative years in Miami, growing up in the early 1990s. It’s a time when he grapples with his dark urges while confiding in his father figure, Harry (Christan Slater). Harry, a homicide detective, instills Dexter’s infamous “Code” – a set of rules guiding him to target and eliminate those who escape the justice system.

Molly Brown stars as Debra Morgan, Dexter’s beloved sister. Sarah Michelle Gellar will play CSI Chief Tanya Martin, and Patrick Dempsey (Thanksgiving) stars as Aaron Spencer, Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide.

The cast also includes Joe Pantoliano (“Chucky”), Brittany Allen (What Keeps You Alive), Randy Gonzalez (Bloodline), Aaron Jennings (Pure Genius), Raquel Justice (One Day at a Time), Jasper Lewis (V/H/S), Carlo Mendez (The Bay), Isaac Gonzalez Rossi (That’s Amor) and Roberto Sanchez (Palm Royale). James Martinez plays Angel Batista.

Clyde Phillips, the original showrunner of “Dexter,” will also serve as showrunner for the prequel, whose first season will feature ten episodes. Michael C. Hall, who originally played Dexter, is on board to executive produce.

Since our last update for “Dexter: Original Sin,” news has come that the spin-off series “Dexter: New Blood” has been renewed for its second season. We will keep you posted on both.
