Director Leigh Whannell, who brought you the chilling reimagining of The Invisible Man, returns to the world of the Universal Monsters with next year’s Wolf Man, and it looks like its marketing campaign has officially begun.
From Universal and Blumhouse, Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man will be howling its way into theaters in 2025, and the very first teaser images are now on display at Universal Orlando. Inside Universal has shared the Wolf Man promo art. The installation will allow fans to take photos with the haunting backdrop. It also gives us our first look at the film’s central location: a creepy house in the woods.
Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator. Matilda Firth (Subservience) also stars alongside Julia Garner (Ozark) and Sam Jaeger (Eileen).
Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo wrote the script for the new film. Jason Blum of Blumhouse is producing it. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell are the executive producers.
The original Wolf Man movie, directed by George Waggner, made its debut in 1941. It starred horror icons Claude Rains and Bela Lugosi and saw a man return to his father’s estate. Aristocrat Larry Talbot meets a beautiful woman who attends a mystical carnival and uncovers a horrifying curse.
To date, the new Universal Monsters franchise has had more failures than successes. Whannell’s Invisible Man is one of the few hits. Movies like The Mummy, The Last Voyage, and Renfield have made fans and the studio question whether the franchise could ever thrive. However, Whanell gives us hope.
Wolf Man will bare its teeth in theaters on January 17, 2025. More news should come soon. In the meantime, watch the original movie now on Apple TV or Prime Video.
