Fans of “Dexter” will be busy this year with not one, not two, but three different series making their premiere. That includes “Dexter: Resurrection,” “Dexter: New Blood,” and the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin.” The last is the one we’re here to talk about.
The series explores Dexter’s earlier years as he evolves into a killer. “They say it takes a village to raise a killer,” says Michael C Hall in the teaser trailer. Hall will return to the prequel as the inner voice of the young serial killer, having played Dexter for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013.
The series, starring Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter, is set 15 years before the original series. It explores Dexter’s formative years in Miami, growing up in the early 1990s. During this time, he grapples with his dark urges while confiding in his father figure, Harry (Christan Slater). Harry, a homicide detective, instills Dexter’s infamous “Code” – a set of rules guiding him to target and eliminate those who escape the justice system.

I had the pleasure of talking with star Raquel Justice, who plays the high-school “it girl,” Sofia, Dexter’s love interest. During our interview, Justice showed real excitement about the first season, which made me want to watch the series even more.
Raquel Justice, who got her start as a Disney star in series like “Andi Mack,” has since moved on to more serious roles in series like “Black-ish,” “Quantum Leap,” and now “Dexter: Original Sin.”
Watch our interview below and tune in for the premiere of “Dexter: Original Sin” on Showtime on Paramount+ on December 13. To stay updated on Raquel Justice’s projects, follow her on Instagram.
