Jack Black and Paul Rudd have teamed up for a new project, an Anaconda movie. They recently took to social media to share the official release date. In the video, they revealed that the giant snake movie will slither into theaters just in time for Christmas 2025.
The duo promises that there will be a “big f-snake,” much like in the 1997 creature feature, but it will not be a reboot of the original. It is a new take on the franchise that leans as much towards comedy as horror.
Suicide Squad actress Daniela Melchoir will star alongside the A-listers for the movie directed by The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent‘s Tom Gormican. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing under the Fully Formed banner.
The original action-packed film starred Jon Voight, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson. Directed by Luis Llosa, it follows a film crew taken hostage by an insane hunter, who forces them on his quest to capture the world’s largest and deadliest snake.
The 1997 Anaconda was followed by 2004’s Anaconda: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. Then came the TV movies Anaconda: Offspring (2008) and Anaconda: Trail of Blood in 2009. You can watch the original movie trailer below and stream it now on Apple TV, Max, and Prime Video.
